Pete Levine was a great friend to the label. And it's time for you to learn about him:
Peter George Levine was born in 1960, and his father's work led Pete to attend fourteen different schools between kindergarten and high school graduation. Along the way, he lived all over the world in places such as Hawaii, Rome, and Iran before attending George Mason University.
Pete established himself as an in-demand drummer for rock bands in the Washington, DC and Austin, TX music scenes, and he was a member of the band Flowerhead when they were signed to Zoo Entertainment. After recording their album, Ka-Bloom, in Butch Vig's studio, the band hit the road with Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Blind Melon.
After Flowerhead, Pete went back to school for a Masters degree and trained to be a physical therapist, but his research led to an even more successful career as an expert speaker and author in the field of stroke recovery.
Besides being an accomplished drummer, Pete was also a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. So after his stint with Flowerhead, Pete continued to write and perform, and we are lucky to have this single EP of songs that he recorded in 1995.
Pete passed in 2022, and he left behind his wife, Aila, and his kids, Emma and Jesse. We miss him every day. But, now, we are going to make sure that his one solo album continues to live on. Coming in late June and available now for digital preorder: Pete Levine - Free Buddha Inside!.
